The X7’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The VF 9 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the middle seat shoulder belts of the BMW X7 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 9 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the X7’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The VF 9 doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

Both the X7 and VF 9 have rear cross-traffic warning, but the X7 has Cross Traffic Warning with braking function (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 9’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the X7 and the VF 9 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The X7’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the VF 9’s (12/unlimited vs. 10/125000).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the X7 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. BMW will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. VinFast doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the VF 9.

The X7 M60i’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid produces 121 more horsepower (523 vs. 402) and 96 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 457) than the VF 9’s electric motors. The Alpina XB7’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 229 more horsepower (631 vs. 402) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 457) than the VF 9’s electric motors.

The X7 has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks A locking charge port is an option at extra cost on the VF 9. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The X7’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The VF 9 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction and acceleration, the X7 has larger standard rear tires than the VF 9 (315/35R22 vs. 275/45R20).

The X7’s optional 315/30R23 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the VF 9’s optional 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the X7 has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the VF 9. The X7’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the VF 9.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the X7 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The VF 9 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The X7 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the VF 9; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The X7 offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The VF 9 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the X7 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the VF 9, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The X7 has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The VF 9’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The X7 has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The X7’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The VF 9 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For greater off-road capability the X7 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the VF 9 (8.7 vs. 7.8 inches), allowing the X7 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The BMW X7 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 800 pounds less than the VinFast VF 9.

The front grille of the X7 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The VF 9 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the X7’s middle and third row seats recline. The VF 9’s third row seats don’t recline.

The X7’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The VF 9’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

Standard Trailer Stabilization Control on the X7 uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The VF 9 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The X7 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The VF 9 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat in the VF 9 Plus, the X7 has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The VF 9’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The X7’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The X7 has standard heated front and optional heated second and third row seats, which keep the driver and passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. VinFast doesn’t offer heated seats in the third row of the VF 9.
